From left to Right: Sarah Haine, Simone Riedel, Fatemeh Alikarami, Thomas Hogan, Haley Goodrow, and Kathrin Bernt

To celebrate Haley Goodrow’s time as a technician and welcome Thomas Hogan in her place the Bernt Lab went to Anna Bees Honey to learn about beekeeping. After learning about hive dynamics and the history of the discovery of “beespace” in Philadelphia in 1852, the lab participated in checking several colonies observing larva, pupa, and even a queen bee! We tasted honey straight from the hive and overall had a lovely sunny afternoon outside of lab.
